Maryland Film Festival

BARRY LEVINSON TO PRESENT NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN
FILM AT MARYLAND'S FILM FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT

Thursday, April 22nd at the Senator Theatre, 7:30

The first screening of the first Maryland Film Festival will be a unique, personal documentary from legendary filmmaker Barry Levinson called Diner Guys. Because this is the director's own work-in-progress, this rare assembly will be projected from video on the big screen at the Senator Theatre.

Barry Levinson has been shooting this extraordinary work for several decades. He chronicles a group of his high school friends as they meet at various reunions, birthdays, a wedding, and other events. This is the ongoing story of the real group of guys that collectively inspired the characters in Barry Levinson's famous first feature as a director, Diner.

A few minutes of this documentary was shown once at the tenth anniversary of Diner, but most of this footage has never been seen by an audience, and may never be seen again. The documentary will be introduced by Barry Levinson, and he will lead a Question and Answer session afterward.

Maryland Film Festival Founder Jed Dietz said: "To get a filmmaker of this magnitude offering our Festival a work this personal and this unique is a rare privilege. It speaks volumes about Barry's long term fascination with and commitment to this community."

The evening will conclude with a rousing block party at the Charles Theatre amid a 50's diner them of course. Tickets for this amazing Opening cost $125 and can be reserved by calling 410.547.2426.
