Description:
Fully restored print of vivid, moving film set during WWI follows a
squad of German soldiers from their enthusiastic voluntary sign-up in
1914 to the death of the last one in 1918 on a day so quiet that the
German military reports said, "All quiet on the Western front."
Since
its original release, the film has been cut substantially, often screened
cropped, chopped and incomplete. Don't miss this rare opportunity to
see the film as it was meant to be seen: uncut and on the big screen.
Winner of numerous Academy Awards(r) in 1931, including Best Picture
and Best Director.
Quote:
"The creative team of Milestone, Abbott, Anderson, Andrews, Edeson
and George Cukor [who was then uncredited dialogue director] used the
fine acting team to take a good novel and make it a much greater work
of art." -Garry Wills, Civilization Magazine
"I just
found a way to get you a happy ending. The Germans win." -director Lewis
Milestone's response to studio misgivings about the "downbeat" story.
