Synopsis:
Cassandra Jones is a young woman from Toronto with a very active imagination and a unique view of the world. Feeling trapped by life in her low-income community, and unable to relate to her brother, a petty criminal, or her overly pious mother, Cassandra decides to leave Toronto. She is accepted into an exchange program between Quebec and West Africa. Once in Quebec, she discovers she must work on a pig farm. Her host family is comprised of Sylvie Leblanc, a woman in need of change, her husband Luc Leblanc, a man afraid of change, and their son. Also on the farm is Abdoulaye Diallo, an student from Africa who regrets his decision to seek change. As Cassandra becomes disillusioned with life on the farm, the clash of cultures leads to hilarious results.

Another Planet explores how we define ourselves. It is essentially a journey in self-discovery; a journey we all must take some time in our lives.

Tidbit:
With the completion of Another Planet, Christine Browne became the first Black woman to write, direct, and produce a dramatic feature film in Canada.
