Synopsis:
Cross
David Lynch with the Brother's Grimm and you might come up with
something a vivid and bizarre as Arthur Flam and Diane Doniol-Valcroze's
feature debut about sibling tailors, twins-a brother and a sister-whose
rivalry escalates to dangerous levels. Thomas is the anxious young
tailor, dominated by their father, himself a master tailor. Vera,
father's favorite, and clearly the more gifted of the two, returns
home for the Tailors' Ball Competition. The skill in question is
the ability to measure clients by sight-without the aid of measuring
tape. Kill by Inches charts the minutest traces of a psychological
and familial disturbance, measuring its narrative with the exacting
precision of tailor. A creepy and uncanny film that may just give
you nightmares.
Tidbit:
Fraternal or dizygotic twins are formed from two fertilized eggs
(two ova and two sperms) and can result in two siblings of the same
or different sexes. Your likelihood of having fraternal twins is
dependent upon the woman carrying a fraternal twin gene and can
also be affected by hereditary, race, marital age and number of
children previously borne. One-third of all twin-births result in
different-sex fraternal twins.
Since 1980,
the twin birth rate has risen 49% (from 18.9 to 28.1 per 1,000 live
births)
