Eighteen-year-old
Sonya Mallow tries to care for her father who has turned to
alcohol since his wife left him. Photographer Nicholas Moore
is obsessed with the female form and uses his camera to feed
his addiction by snapping photos of unsuspecting women. Factory
worker Seamus deals with troubles at work and troubles with
his fiancée, becoming convince that he is a magnet for everything
strange and evil in the world.
The mysterious power of fate is at work as these three storylines
intersect in one evening in a series of predestined encounters
and bizarre circumstances, and in this mix of compelling drama
and dark comedy, fate is not always kind.
Writer/Director Davidson Cole has created a stunning film,
which drew raves at Sundance, evoking comparisons to David
Lynch's Blue Velvet in a review by Variety Magazine. The black
and white film and stark landscape creates a foreboding atmosphere,
and the use of effects such as split screen and frame within
frame adds just the right stylish touch. It's pretty obvious
that this film was preordained to play at the Maryland Film
Festival.
