Set in an industrial town in Southern Poland, just a country-mile behind the whole world, Louder than Bombs tells the tale of Marcin, 21 year old, with a penchant for James Dean and the Smiths.

After the death of his father, Marcin must contend with the funeral arrangements while hosting his baffoonish out-of-town relatives who disparage his small town life as a mechanic in his father's garage. In addition, Marcin must face the news that Kaska, his life-long love (and literally the girl next door), under pressure from her parents, has decided to leave their apparent dead end life in Poland to study in the U.S. If he doesn't stop her now, he knows his luck too well, and he'll probably never see her again.

Louder than Bombs won the award for Best Cinematography at the 2002 Slamdance Film Festival.

Biography

In a country where a film school education is a precondition to being able to raise funds to make a film, Przemyslaw Wojcieszek faced a special challenge due to the lack of any formal film school. He has written several screenplays, three of which have been produced. Louder than Bombs is his feature film debut as a director.
