This coming of age tale, set in the heart of New York, about a teenage girl, Cynthia, who uses the Diary of Anne Frank as her muse as well as, the events of her life, to create her own journal, through rhymes. Cynthia is an introverted girl, who longs to be a Hip Hop star, and hides her true talent and true gift in the bathroom. Life on the streets if tough and being a girl trying to break into the Hip Hop game is even tougher. And on top of all that, her brother Juan, an addict, steals her rhymes to support his habit by selling them to another rapper, who doesn't have half the talent, Cynthia does. The question is whether Cynthia will finally break free from all that is holding her back and embrace her true self. Told with style and grace, director Lisa France has created a film that should be seen by not only those who love Hip Hop, but the entire family. Newcomer Janice Richardson along with Carlos Leon give heartfelt and emotional performances.
