OPENING NIGHT - MARYLAND FILM FESTIVAL 2003
BARRY LEVINSON TO HOST ON THE WATERFRONT

Barry Levinson returns to The Maryland Film Festival to host a screening of Elia Kazan's classic 1954 film, ON THE WATERFRONT, starring Marlon Brando, Rod Steiger, Eva Marie Saint, Lee J Cobb, and Karl Malden, as Opening Night of the 2003 Maryland Film Festival. ON THE WATERFRONT was nominated for 11 Oscars and won 8, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress.

The event gives Levinson a chance to share with an audience one of the films that inspired him to become a filmmaker. It also gives him the chance to return to the Maryland Film Festival, where he kicked off the inaugaral festival in 1999 with a screening of his never before seen documentary, DINER GUYS. The screening will be followed by the Opening Night party (details to be announced.)
