Gavin is a teenage sci-fi/fantasy fan who runs a video rental service out of his bedroom. Gavin and his two best friends, Hobie and Maynard, inhabit a world of fantasy medieval sword battles, laser tag, and bike rides to the park. Zerk is Gavin's neighbor/enemy, an older slacker desperate to pay off a credit card debt in order to keep his Camaro. Zerk's crispy sidekick, Shirts, helps him hatch plans to come up with the money. Meanwhile, Gavin discovers young love through Sophie, the clerk at the local video store who has her jaw wired shut in an effort to lose weight. If that weren't enough to keep Gavin's young mind occupied, he also discovers potential proof of the existence of Bigfoot. Both discoveries put Gavin at further odds with the bully, Shane, and his two teenage "henchmen". The tension between the two groups of friends lands Gavin's prized video collection at risk, not to mention his freedom to walk around in public without being pelted by paintball gunfire. Zerk and Shirts' get-rich-quick scheme, and a bet between Gavin and Shane, hinge on the arrival of Bigfoot expert Dr. Artimus Snodgrass (Carl Weathers, a.k.a. Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies).

Sasquatch Dumpling Gang is similar in tone to Napoleon Dynamite, the hit film sharing many of the same behind-the-scenes people, and includes a brief cameo from Napoleon star, Jon Heder. It is a film about young people being themselves, and in this case - for comic purposes - being themselves involves taking adolescent interests to extremes, and talking in slang with an afflicted dialect (think Beavis & Butthead and Napoleon). Here is another welcome cinematic chapter in the ongoing battle of freaks versus geeks.
